Feeling well and managing stress can have real benefits to your health

When we reduce our stress and feel better, many aspects of our mental and physical health improve. Some examples of these improvements include; improved immune system function, improved nutrition absorption, improved digestion, lowered blood pressure which reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, more relaxed muscles and less tension headaches. We also rest and recuperate better. Good health is important to us all and managing a chronic condition can lead to worry and distress. It’s important to talk to people about how you’re feeling and create a supportive network. There are many services to help.
Make sure you have spoken with your GP about your health care needs and treatment options and make a health management plan. Ask if you are eligible for the 5 subsidised allied health sessions through the Medicare Benefits Schedule. You may also be eligible for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to subsidise medicines used in your treatment plan.
To help manage stress, we recommend eating a healthy diet and doing moderate exercise. Exercise can produce endorphins which can reduce stress and can also help you get a better sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep has many health benefits. For more tips about sleep, have a look at some of the resources below.
